Fall is for everything pumpkin, so why leave your dog out of the fun? Here are some easy pumpkin treat recipes for your fur baby to enjoy. Pumpkin isn’t just delicious, but it is great for your dog’s digestion! Be sure to use pure pumpkin puree, and not pumpkin pie filling (they can easily be confused with their cans looking quite similar).
Pumpkin Spice Dog Treats
Ingredients:
- 2 Cups All Purpose Flour
- 2/3 Cup Pure Pumpkin Puree (NOT pumpkin pie filling)
- 1/3 Cup Peanut Butter
- 2 Eggs
- 1 tsp Pumpkin Pie Spice
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Prepare a large cookie sheet by either spraying with non-stick cooking spray or lining it with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, add all the ingredients and mix well until the mixture resembles dough. If it’s still too wet to handle, add a little more flour and knead in the dough until firm. If it’s too dry, add a little more pumpkin puree.
- Turn out onto a pastry sheet or floured surface such as your counter top. Knead the dough until the surface is smooth.
- Roll out to about a 1/2 inch thickness, then press with any shape cookie cutters. Place onto your prepared cookie sheet (don’t worry about how close they are together because they don’t ride or spread when baking).
- Sprinkle tops with pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon, or leave them plain.
- Bake for 40 minutes.
- Remove and place on a wire rack to cool completely before giving them to your fur babies!
